Once
every month team-members set aside time to honour deities
not mentioned in any texts, hitherto unknown. In effect we
held open temple to any who wished to talk.
These encounters, like most others,
involved a series of three. Some returned time and again,
others only once. There were many surprises and these
deities provided a fascinating insight into the realms and
work of the Olympians.
Through these
encounters with unknown Gods and Goddesses we realised
there is a structure, there are the mighty ones, those
identified since ancient times, and minor Gods who attend
them, and help in whatever way they are required. But
there also are other deities, such as Stone and Rain who
have particular functions but are not in attendance of
another, and may even have helpers of their own. Few told
us whether they were related to another deity, or whether
they were in attendance of their own parent. All that is
except the sons of Larnatus and the daughter of Happiness.
Several
unknown deities returned time and again to the temple,
whereas others appeared only once. The God of Fire visited
us often and so too the Gods of Stone and Rain, and
Peretite, the Goddess of Happiness.
Technically speaking,
both Larnatus and Isa are unknown deities, and the
Devourer nearly so, but for the brief ancient Egyptian
reference to the 'Eater of Souls.' But these are among the
most mighty, Isa the beginning and the Devourer the end.
And Larnatus is a very ancient deity, long forgotten to
humankind. Until now...
