Goddess.
The following deity appeared twice. Well, it is possible
this is the same deity, but it is equally possible these
are two separate individuals, for Hecate has many helpers.
'...The
first time, I saw no special light appear in the temple,
only a rather ugly female face appeared above the altar.
Not old, just ugly. Her nose looks squashed and flattened
and without saying anything I was pulled really viciously
downward, and I seriously dreaded the destination. I
thought of the Devourer's realm and Hades' labyrinthine
Underworld, but then we changed direction, we moved
sideways and then I realised where we were going...
To Hecate's realm. It is as if it is
half way into the Underworld.
I started shaking and she just threw me
down onto the floor of Hecate's great stone chamber and
there were her trophies, the skulls. This deity stomped
and stood above me and glared:
"This is where I work. I help the
mighty Hecate. I am a great Goddess in my own way and you
honour me today. I collect souls and bring them here. You
could call me Collector. I am very powerful and therefore
as I have been chosen to speak and have pulled you roughly
I give you a gift. NOT to be used today, but at some other
time soon. The gift of power."
She just lifted me and hurled me back
and I landed with a thump in the temple.
Several
months later a Goddess appeared, three metres tall, again
rather ugly. She has a twisted mouth, thick bulbous nose,
cruel slits for eyes, dark brown hair scragged back, and I
could see she has large ears. She is well-built but not
fat. This time she was wearing a grey gown, calf-length
rather than ankle-length. It was sleeveless and I could
see muscular arms.
"I am the Goddess Metyas and I
help the great and mighty Hecate. I am one who leads
mortals to her."
Again I was violently yanked from the
temple and I felt I was being pushed into a dingy corridor
with an uneven stone floor with rough stone walls, just
wide enough for two people to walk, but it was fairly
high. She was half by my side, half behind me and in her
right hand she held a pleated whip of leather. I was
being pushed not pulled and every so often she cracked the
whip. It didn't hit me but it made the sound and I was
extremely frightened. Then again I was pushed into Hecate's
chamber and again she wasn't there.
"I am just showing you the work I
do. The great and mighty ones have attendants and today
you honour me. You may now return. I cannot give blessings
but I wish you well and I give you the gift of acquiring
great knowledge of us."
