Festival of Tethys April 22

Tethys

Mythology makes little mention of this powerful Titan Goddess, though she is linked in marriage with the sea God Oceanus and is said by Hesiod to be the daughter of Uranus and Gaea, and mother by Oceanus of the rivers, the water nymphs, the Goddesses Metis and Tyche, and the God Styx.

"I am Tethys, a great Goddess not many mortals have heard of,' said she on first encounter.
'...I saw a flash of light and she appeared. Long wispy white hair, grey eyes, very thin and a croaky voice. She wore a long gown draped across the middle like an apron effect. She looked old, very wrinkly, very old.'
"I am very old. Yet I can change and appear young."
There was a  swirling light of every colour, mottled and a bit dazzling. Her face changed, and her hair became long and red and her eyes became blue, very deep and unusual blue eyes. She seemed to be around 35-40ish, and her voice was richer, deeper.

"Mortals do not know of me today, I have been neglected for so long and long ago only a few mortals honoured me. Now you pay homage to me. That lightens me. It is my due."
'...I was pulled into her light and it sounds strange to say this, but the light itself seemed to get hold of me.

"When the Olympian faith is embraced by mortals in your world, I shall be there among the mighty ones. You priestess are fortunate, I am in a compassionate mood, so I will put you through no tests. Another time you may not be so lucky." Her light changed into the most beautiful mauve, I have never seen such a colour, it was sparkling mauve. As she drew me into her light she threw some reddish dust in my face and I couldn’t stop sneezing. "This you will find gives you much energy today. Use energy wisely. Foolish waste of this can bring harm."

I drifted off to countryside but in the distance I could see a sandy shoreline and the sea, but where I was, everywhere around me were red poppies in full bloom and orange red daisies. "These are my flowers," she said. "The daisies give health and happiness, the poppies bring sweet sleep."
I did feel quite energetic and strode across the field happily and then I sat down and found the flowers came up to my shoulders. She stood beside me. "Most of us appreciate beauty, whether we are gentle or hard. I am a Goddess who is hard yet gentle. I may not be one of the mightiest, but I am strong. As today and tomorrow are days that all Goddesses look forward to, I will be very gentle with you priestess."

I guessed Tethys was speaking of the Festival of Flowers, held on the 14th and 15th of April.
"My hope is that all will be gentle with you today. I may not always be this kind. Though this does not mean that I am displeased. I hope you will uphold old traditions. If you decide to have wine, may it be red. Cheese and wine are symbolic, yet not the same as the Christians use wine and bread. You may or may not learn of the meaning of this.

I have many temples now, many in Africa, also India and other countries. In some places mortals are aware and have heard me, have felt my presence, heard my voice and now seek my help for guidance. This pleases me.
In a Scandinavian country I have had a bride run from my temple in the middle of a marriage service, as I could see the marriage would never be a happy one, she would be beaten.
I will not be called a demon. To one priest in a temple of mine I have given an irritating skin disease which he will have until he acknowledges me. Every time he enters my temple I shall surround him with my presence until he accepts me. I am the great Tethys. No demon!"

Then I saw a circle of her lovely mauve light encircle me, a deep, two metre high circle of light just off the ground, three metres wide.
"You may return and take my blessings and the gift of great happiness."
