Notus the Gentle

When Notus arrives the atmosphere is neither cold nor threatening as with Boreas and Eurus, nor does it have the sense of change that accompanies Zephyrus. When Notus arrives there is a lovely warm breeze, then warming light as his young face, golden curls and beard, and green eyes appears...

“We the Gods of the Winds appreciate that you both honour us in your temple. I am the south wind. In your part of the world I am gentle and bring warmth, I bring happiness.”

Notus' voice is so soft you have to listen carefully, if there was a noise you would not be able to hear him, although I could feel the soft breeze gather and suddenly I was lifted out of the temple and onto a beach with lots of people around in swimsuits, and children playing and people swimming,
“Enjoying life is important,” he whispered. “It cannot be holidays all the time, but work can be a pleasure."
I felt myself lifted again and this time I was placed gently on high down- land overlooking the sea. It was sunny and warm and absolutely lovely. It was spring, birds singing and lots of fresh green leaves, as if the world was waking up from winter.

“Yes, priestess, your world is very slowly waking up. In a few years it will be wide awake and realise the true faith. Many Gods and Goddesses. Not just one.

Now you need a soothing influence as your auric body shows wounds from this morning’s encounters. I heal your auric body. Feel wafts upon you. Give thanks for light breezes and winds. Without wind your planet would be a dull place.”

I just sat there and felt very soothed as the warm breezes played around my body, it was SO refreshing, and really did soothe away all the fright from the morning's encounter with the Titan God Hyperion who had shaken me badly. I remembered with less and less wincing the crashing through sharp bushes which I guessed had resulted in scratches and tears to my body.
Then suddenly I felt as if there was power going through me. I felt power course through me from the breeze, it gathered a little stronger but nothing bad. Then little golden droplets fell all around me, they weren’t wet and when they touched my skin there was no feeling, they just disappeared. I felt I wanted to get up and skip around like a child but something made me sit, just sit still.
So I did, and listened to his soft, soothing voice. There was good humour in it.

“We now have quite a few temples. We have made our presence known in many and were received by one man with such joy he has made his bed-chamber into a temple for us by cutting out pictures from books and magazines of strong windy scenes and pasting them upon his walls. He has written four poems about us which he has written in decorative writing, and these too are on his walls. This gives us joy.

We have taken temples either situated upon a hill top or with a large spire or turret. We have many, many temples, most we share. Yet we have a few in which we preside individually. We are happy with our choice. Where ever our temples, no matter how calm the day or night, one of us blows strongly around it. Mortals are beginning to remark about this. Sometimes we are heard by mortals who are aware. Some begin to pray to us, especially if they have men on the seas. We work with the sea Gods to destroy certain ships.

When we the south and the west winds are gentle, we both influence mortals to be lazy. To accept us as we are. If we are strong then we are disliked and we can cause trouble which is a sign to the world that we are angry. Much is happening in your world, things are changing slowly but surely.
You are fortunate to have acquired the knowledge that you have. We the mighty ones are pleased that you show gratitude. We are Gods, not humans yet we still like others to be grateful when we bestow gifts. I give you both my special blessings. And the gift of calmness and peaceful minds.”
