Night Time Journey

To date no team-member has ever seen the Goddess Night. She has often come to the temple, but the following is the most of a description we can give...

'...A very dark blue glow appeared in the temple in front of the altar, and there were silver flecks in it. SO pretty. I saw an outline of her figure, rather misty but I could see long flowing dark hair and then her voice, so quiet it is almost a whisper, slightly husky but pleasant, sexy husky.
“I am Night, a great one."
I was aware of her shadowy figure circling the temple, around us. I felt something brush across my face.
“I am darkness. I am everywhere. I come into this little temple to receive the homage you pay me. I am very happy that you remember to honour me like this. This pleases me. The work you do also pleases me. Come.”

She led me into open countryside, bushes, a few trees but not woods. It was night time and moonlight and I was aware of a lot of activity. I saw a big owl in a tree. I saw badgers and lots of small creatures. As I walked on I saw a patch of light on the ground, like little pinpricks. I looked down and saw glow worms, hundreds of them. Although it was night, there seemed such a lot going on.
But she didn’t let me stay, she floated me away to a residential area, a suburban street in a city. Big detached houses, obviously wealthy residents. I noticed a man in dark clothes push through a gateway, but he kept off the gravel path which led to the house. He walked on a flower bed alongside. He reached the house, got up on the windowsill and broke in. I realised then we were watching a burglar, but the man slipped and tore open his leg and his cry of pain alerted the house and we didn’t stick around to watch what happened next, we were off again to another street with houses.

I saw a girl walking alone along the street, she was wearing bright clothes something yellow. She had longish brown hair. Then I saw her turn in alarm as a man jumped out from a bush, grabbed her and threw her to the ground, but something stopped him for he looked up into the dark bushes and the expression on his face was utter terror as if he had seen a monster, he just upped and ran as if for his life. I heard Night speak, and although whisperish and husky there was an edge of anger to it:
“So much happens at night. Good things and bad. Anyone who commits a crime during the night will upon their death face me before going on to the Underworld or beyond. They will not find me as gentle as you have."

The girl ran in the opposite direction, and I was glad she had survived what obviously was going to be a nasty situation. I wondered what had frightened the attacker off, and guessed it must have been this Goddess.
    We floated on
into woodland beyond the suburbs, a full moon rose in the sky. I could hear the trees rustling to a gentle wind and I saw more creatures of the night: owls, three bats flew across and there was much noise in the undergrowth. I saw rabbits munching grass, a vixen and her two cubs and several badgers. It was lovely to watch, a whole community of wildlife living in the small woods.
She led me gently on. I saw a young couple sitting on the grass under a tree. He had his arm around her and she said, ‘Isn’t it a lovely night?’ He said, ‘Someone told me there was a God or Goddess of the night. I don’t know which, or if it’s true. Wouldn’t it be lovely if that was true.’ I heard the woman say. ‘There is. It’s a Goddess, well, she is a Goddess.’ ‘How do you know?’ I heard him ask. ‘I don’t know,’ she replied. ‘But I am sure I’m right.’
    I heard Night’s whispered voice:
"There are those who think deeply. One day all mortals will.
At every sunrise and at every sunset there are a few mortals more who realise there is a Goddess of the night, a Goddess of the Moon and Gods and Goddesses of the stars."

Onward we travelled, the night sky seemed to darken almost to blackness, the moon had gone but then the blackness twinkled with different colours scattered over the sky, twinkly little lights like lights on a Christmas tree, but all over the sky.
And then I watched as they all came together.
At first they formed a circle, then the circle broke and closed in to become a complete kaleidoscope of colours, changing shapes, all sorts of patterns, all different colours and they all intermingled. A circle revolved with nothing in the centre, it revolved and dissolved. The lights formed oak-leaf patterns and triangles, so many different patterns, some indescribable. This display went on and on, a cosmic lightshow.
Then I heard her husky whisper as the dancing lights dissolved and I was brought back to the temple.

“You have been observing power, how it is formed. Mortals do not realise this. When you wish to overcome some difficulty, whether it be of the body or the mind, think of this, it may help.
It is with some reluctance I now leave you both. I could stay all morning, but the two of you have your earthly duties and no doubt would not wish to stay here. So as I leave I give you my loving blessings and for both of you I give the gift of tolerance, of trouble-free sleep, that each morning you awake refreshed and calm, and I give you both the gift of vitality.”
