Kyron is not the only centaur, but he is the most powerful. Kyron has his own days of festivity, which doubtless the centaurs attend; but they too have their own day of celebration, which no doubt Kyron enjoys attending. 
    Having learned of the centaurs' celebration day we made an occasion to honour them:

'...There was a rush of noise, I can only describe the sound as a 'psssshhh!' and I was slightly aware - ever so faintly - of hundreds galloping past, so fast. That was the noise they made. I couldn't say exactly how many there were. Then I heard a chorus:
    "We are the great centaurs" and then one spoke alone.
"We are delighted and surprised that you both have chosen to honour us on a day that we choose to celebrate. There will be much fun, racing and food. We work very hard helping the Gods and Goddesses of nature. You both work hard. Everyone should have a short time off from working, but those who idle their life away are in for a bad surprise. 
    Now we leave you to enjoy your food. 
    You do have our blessings of course. That is for both of you."
